I know of some major staffing changes coming to ticket counters at DFW by the end of May, but I presume those are not the changes that Jon is referring to either, correct?

Not unless there's some bizarre connection I'm not thinking of.

So it's not really any longer a secret that "things" will be going on this weekend. May 9 was a date originally sent to me, with later dates (the 12th) also mentioned. (Perhaps the latter is the actual announcement date.)

But I'm sure I'm not alone in that sometime starting around 2-3am Eastern (I should be pretty darn drunk by then, too) I'll be peeking in here (and other places) to see if there are -any- reports or visible changes, etc.
Unlclear to me when the NDAs that I assume (some) agents signed expire and if they'll start to crack or if we'll see early indications first. Or, if we'll be well into the weekend before we see/hear anything meaningful.

One thing for sure, I'll be getting nothing from anyone at AA-- they got that place buttoned-up tighter than I (and many others) have ever seen it.

See ya' later!

Wow. This must be huge. I'll definitely be checking this site at 2AM or so.

Just to clarify-- and this would be -my- fault if I misled; I'd say the 3am(ish) window is the absolute earliest we would see *anything* of consequence on either here or on AA.com. Leaks from AAgents may well be the first solid info the public gets and I'd expect to see that on FT before here.

As far as the hugeness of it, I personally don't characterize it's size or scope-- haven't done so the whole time-- other people have stuffed those words into my mouth. People will see and make their own judgements soon enough.

I just ticketed a couple of redemption flights for self and spouse (had to ticket right now as all held reservations turn into pumpkins tonight) and I tried to press the EXP person on the gravity of the changes. A first rate job of question deflection ensued. "Well, we have some major computer updates happening this weekend..." was all she'd give.

The tickets are for Europe < > Africa J awards which I figured were better getting locked in tonight rather than later, if y'know what I mean...

If you try to book an award ticket, there is now an option to get one-way tickets at exactly one half the round trip total of points.

This is fantastic. I've always been annoyed when there is tons of inventory one way, and none the other that I wind up having to use an anytime award for the whole thing.

I'd consider this quite credible.
Now that this is known on aa.com, will you advise if this is the change or will there be more stuff to come?
